Look at these curls!

Eggplants are one of my favorite vegetables. I have them all the time and usually they look normal with just a bit of a curve in them. This is the first time I've seen them this curly. Have you ever seen anything like it?!

I just had to share this photo even though its a little dark. I've eaten the eggplants so theres no chance of a second shot.

I, too, love eggplant...but those you pictured don't look overly appetizing. Somehow, they remind me of the early-stage Alien from the movie of the same name...

Yes...they looked really strange! I thought of other things...not Aliens.
But they tasted normal so all was good in the end.

Good Lord! I looked at the pictures before reading, and thought this was some kind of Scat Study. Whew!

Hey-- as long as they taste good!!

How did they taste though? This is something I found in Spain. Spanish carrots are really weird and gnarled-looking. But they taste way better than the normal straight carrots you buy in a supermarket in Britain. How do Indonesian aubergines (that's our word for eggplants, by the way) taste compared to Australian ones (or wherever)?

Those are eggplants? At first glance I thought they were slugs!

I gotta be honest - I did the same that Heidi did .... :)

LOL! Actually I didn't know how to put it until Heidi left her comment. But THATS what I thought too.

Noisms: They taste normal. Not any better or worse than other eggplants I've tried. As for carrots, the ones in Indonesia are also really gnarled and have much more yellow to the center than orange. But, unlike the Spanish ones you mentioned, these seem to lack taste and the centers are quite hard to soften. I'll see if I can get a photo of them next time.
