A third generation of friendship?

I went to a really fun birthday party on the weekend. It was for a one year old whose mum is my oldest friend. I've been trying to think back and I'm pretty sure that she is the first friend I had (we met at 5 or 6 years old). Both our dads were also childhood friends.

Here is a photo of the two of us. I think its her 9th or 10th birthday party.

And here is a photo of the both of us last weekend. Its a shame that we didn't take one together with the kids. Have to remember for next time.

I think its so cool that our dads were friends growing up in Penang, and then we were friends growing up in Ipoh, and now, our children will be friends growing up in Brisbane. If the children remain friends into their thirties there would be a three generation bond of friendship of nearly a hundred years! Imagine that....

Not to many things last a hundred years these days.

Aww Thank Amanda. I am so honoured to be written on your blog post. But mostly I am so honoured to have you as such a treasured friend for such a long time. I hope that we will remain the best of friends and that our kids will also be the best of friends regardlss of whether I end up having a boy or girl next. Who knows.. perhaps the 3rd generation friendship may turn out to be stronger. Maybe Aaron will marry Isabella one day.. Wouldn't that be cool. Only time will tell.

What a great story! I lost track of most of my old grade school and high school friends until relatively recently, so I don't have that kind of marvelous long-term connection you and Elaine have. Congratulations! Good friends are hard to find, and they're a treasure to be protected.

This is just to precious for words. It brought tears to my eyes to think of the generations of friendship that have grown out of your dads. Very sweet.
