Making money online

Most people are aware that there are lots of money to be made on the internet. I'm definitely one of these people. I also WANT to be one of those that actually makes some from the internet. However, people usually think of it in the forms of advertisements on websites or paid for posts and articles. So far, it is not as widely known that there are sites that revenue share with members directly via Google Adsense. Some of them also give away free stuff such as computer games, iPods and CDs. All that is required are posts on forums or discussion boards.

Here are 5 sites to look out for:
1) Pro Mobile Talk
2) Pro Gamer Forums
3) Indie Rock Talk
4) The Online Developer
5) The Finance Forums

Novotel Palembang - My 'Me' Place

I've posted various photos of everyday life here in Palembang and mostly, the scenes are somewhat dirty/messy/poor/old. Now, here is a photo of a place that I escape to almost everyday.

This is literally the nicest place in Palembang. It is clean, cool, quiet, usually devoid of guests and basically calming. It is extremely hot in the house here so we make it a routine to go out in the afternoons. Sometimes we go to one of the 3 malls in Palembang but I don't really count that as 'me' time. Instead, I try to go to the gym/pool at Novotel. Looking after Aaron is extremely rewarding and joyous but at the same time it is draining both physically and somehow mentally. Physically because he needs 100% supervision. I also find that I'm mentally drained ... not sure how but I think it has something to do with not having a minute to myself throughout the day. This seems to eat at me until I work it out in the gym and refresh myself. I just need that time to organise my thoughts without interruptions. After an hour I'm fully recharged and eager to spend more time with Aaron.

Haze Season in Indonesia

When we lived in Penang and Kuala Lumpur, the haze was a nuisance around the July/August timeframe till around September/October. Actually, its much more than a nuisance and a serious hazard to my health, especially if the Air Pollution Index reaches 100. This haze is caused by the annual fires deliberately lit in Indonesia to clear land for cultivation. They do it every year! Malaysia has supposedly had 'talks' with the Indonesians but....we're still waiting for the results.

Now, we live in Palembang. Indonesia itself! As of yesterday, over 150 hotspots have been detected on the Island of Sumatra. We have not felt its effects in Palembang as the wind direction is from the south and blowing the haze to Malaysia. It was a friend of mine over in Penang that alerted me to the start of it.

Luckily, Aaron and I will not be here for the most part of the haze season. But what about Richard? This is the big question that kept coming up when we were making the decision to move here and now after we have moved here...

Teething Babies and Sleep

Aaron's 5th and 6th teeth are on their way out and irritating him every night at around 2am. He seems to erupt teeth two at a time and so far hasn't gotten used to the teething sensation yet. When his first couple of teeth were erupting, I found out that cold Rambutans were really effective in soothing him and distracting him from the pain.

Several days ago, I submitted an article, 'How to Help a Teething Baby', to Associated Content on how I've been helping Aaron through the teething process and *SLAP* I immediately got a string of sleepless teething nights. Good news is that I work up this morning to an email saying the article has been published. YAY! Go check it out.

My 3 col Minima is nearly there

Finally, I have my 3 columns, an image in the header, and the blog description centered. I still need to put all my little icons back but I'm just too sleepy, hot, and itchy from all the mosquito bites to do anymore tonight.

ZZZZzzzzzz.....

Blogging .... I'm dizzy

Blogging is turning out to be both a very sociable AND anti-social activity. I've 'met' so many new and helpful people on the internet since starting this blog. At the same time, I've becoming anti-social at home because I spend so much time in front of my laptop! Take today for example, 3 hours ago, I was elated because I found how to increase the template to 3 columns. Yet, I am still here and completely frustrated because I couldn't get my picture back in the header and have had to revert back to my 'June Look'. AND, I've lost all the little icons that I used to have on the right sidebar......ARRRGHHHHH

OK. Got to get back to it. I want it up and running before I go to sleep....

Stone Age Tools

Since moving here, we have encountered many ways of living that seem 'old fashioned' to us. Today's example is not just old fashioned, its from the Stone Age.

The rock and flat stone shown is called a 'giling' (meaning to grind or mince). It is one of the main 'appliances' of the Indonesian kitchen because of all the spices they use in their cooking.

Anyway, on the left of that stone is my ground red onions. I sure felt like Wilma Flintstone when I was working on them. It did the job and was fun for about 30 seconds before my eyes started watering from the onions.
